Folksy Friday 17th June: An apple a day keeps the doctor away...

I have been making some Chocolate Dipped Apples with my daughter yesterday (they were yummy - also a good way of making my husband have his 5-a-day...) so my theme for this week's Folksy Friday is APPLES.
Have you had your '5-a-day'?

Latest commission: personalised necklace with 4 names

I have recently been asked to create a personalised necklace featuring 4 children's names.
I have quite a large selection of names necklaces in my shop but there are not many of them suitable for 4 names.
I have a necklace with 3 round charms which is great for 3 names but I think it would look a bit cluttered with 4 names especially as the charms tend to bunch up on the chain when worn.

My customer especially liked my Heart Necklace with Swarovski pearl and wanted to know if I couldsomehow turn it into a necklace suitable for 4 names.

She was after a necklace with a "cluster" feel with lots of charms and beads.
Fortunately, her children's names are quite short so I suggested stamping 2 of the names on the small heart charms and the other 2 on the large heart charm. I decide to add some Swarovski pearls and a couple of other heart charms to create that clustered look my customer was after. The pendant was threaded onto a lovely belcher chain.
When I first threaded the charms on, I was pleasantly surprised to see how nicely the charm and the beads hung on the chain. It really created a nice 'bunch' so I was pretty pleased with it.

This is the feedback I have received from my customer and if my customer is happy, I'm happy! Thanks Amanda.
"The necklace arrived today and is absolutely perfect!
Thank you so much. I'll definitely be back, and will definitely recommend you!"

This necklace is now available to buy from my Folksy shop.

Folksy Friday 10th June: Russian Dolls

My little daughter loves watching songs on YouTube and her current favourite is a Russian song called Katyusha by 2 little Russian girls. It's a really good upbeat song and the girls are great singers.
I had to learn Russian when I was at school (don't remember anything now!) but I remember singing this song as well.

So anyway, my theme for this week's Folksy Friday is Russian Dolls! So many of them on Folksy!

Bigger is better!

I planned to have fish & chips for dinner today (from the packet) and as I was cooking it (I mean opening the packets) I was amazed at the size of the chips! I have never seen chips that long (maybe something to do with the fact that they were supermarket's VALUE chips) but I thought they looked ridiculous especially as they were longer than my fish! I'm not complaining though - you know what they say: Bigger is better!!!

New Name? From Personalised Photo Jewellery to Personalised Treasures.

I have been think a lot recently about re-naming my 'Personalised Photo Jewellery' shop to 'Personalised Treasures'.

Although I am still selling some photo necklaces, my main items are hand stamped jewellery and gifts and I feel that 'Personalised Photo Jewellery' no longer sums up what I do.

The name change would mean a lot of hassle with starting a new Folksy shop (and paying for new listings!), new website, new blog, new packaging, new business cards etc but I think it would be worth it.

I have already done a new logo:

I also had an idea, it would be great to supply my necklaces in a 'treasure chest shape' gift box like this one:

The box is quite expensive so it would probably just be for the more expensive items.

I would love to hear your opinions and comment on the renaming of my shop and the packaging idea. Do you keep your jewellery packaging or do they just go straight into the bin? Or maybe you may have other suggestions for my new name?

PS: Don't worry, the Free Necklace Giveaway will not be affected by the name change (if anything you could double your chances of winning by following my new blog too...)

My work in pictures...

I have recently completed a lovely order for some Personalised Pearl Necklaces. I thought I would share with you some of my progress photos to give you an idea of the (quite a long!) process involved in making such  necklaces.

These personalised pearl necklaces are great for Christenings (with BLESSED and a DATE stamped on), ideal as bridesmaids necklaces (with NAMES and a wedding DATE) or simply just as best friend necklaces (with BEST FRIENDS FOREVER stamped on).
Available to buy in my shop.
